This combat system will be instantly familiar to anyone who’s played Arkham City and, as with the aforementioned game, is satisfyingly meaty and strategic without requiring a steep learning curve to master. Going back to the combat, although many missions call for some extra firepower, a lot of the time you’ll be engaging with opponents hand to hand. Wei’s abilities can be modified by spending points using Sleeping Dog’s comprehensive skill tree, which is also tied into the game’s morality system Wei’s behaviour dictates which skill points you’ll be able spend, with positive behaviour netting you points for expanding your law enforcement abilities and vice versa. The city genuinely feels alive and offers players an almost overwhelming amount of activities to participate in from illegal street racing to martial arts training to side-quests for both the police and your criminal cohorts, players almost always have a smorgasboard of distractions to choose from. The almost claustrophobic design of the city makes for thrilling chases and the exotic flavour of the culture is a welcome addition that serves to give Sleeping Dogs its own unique aesthetic. One of the game’s biggest strengths is in its setting, with the neon soaked bustling streets and myriad dingy back alleys of Hong Kong making for a stark contrast when compared to the American cities and tropical paradises of other open world games. Rather, Sleeping Dogs refines the formula to great effect, giving players additional methods of hijacking vehicles in transit by launching Wei off of his bike onto the roof, streamlined mission selection where you can instantly set GPS coordinates for specific missions with a click of the left thumbstick, a combat system that leans heavily towards hand to hand attacks rather than an overreliance on gunplay and more. So, par for the course in that respect then Sleeping Dogs understands that the open world genre pioneered by Grand Theft Auto 3 now has a definitive structure that players are used to and to deviate too drastically from that design could spell disaster. If you’ve played Grand Theft Auto (Or, indeed, the original True Crime series on PS2 and XBOX) then you’ll know what to expect gameplay wise – Cars can be commandeered and used to traverse the city, civilians, both innocent and otherwise, can be attacked at will and the entire city of Hong Kong itself is a sandbox of activities ranging from the mundane to the insane. Progress is achieved by completing missions and side quests for various lieutenants as you rise through the ranks, a mission and narrative structure that’s starting to feel a little tired in these kind of open world crime games but one that’s mitigated somewhat by an interesting take on the generic undercover cop plot and the paradox of committing criminal acts in order to uphold the law. Sleeping Dogs lets you play as Wei Shen, an American-Chinese police officer who has returned to Hong Kong in order to go deep undercover and infiltrate the Triads in order to try and bring down their criminal organisation. Couple that with the fact that Sleeping Dogs in its original incarnation was an extremely solid game and you have a gaming experience that looks and plays superbly. Despite the limitations presented by being yet another remastered title rather than a true current gen experience, the simple truth of the matter is that, with most titles available for PS4 and XBOX One generally also being remasters, being designed for last generation hardware isn’t as much as a handicap as it may become in the future. Now Sleeping Dogs has made the leap to current generation consoles with a new coat of polish and all 24 DLC included with this definitive edition but does it still have what it takes to make an impression in this current gaming climate? Format: PlayStation 4 (Reviewed), Xbox One, PCīeginning life as an intended sequel in the open world True Crime series before being unceremoniously cancelled, S leeping Dogs was subsequently revived by Square Enix and crafted into a new intellectual property that, despite being criminally overlooked in some quarters, made for an action/adventure open world experience that could sit comfortably amongst peers such as Just Cause 2 and the Grand Theft Auto series.

Nicole Silva of PetMD, any food not specifically formulated for cats can affect the digestive system, causing vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. Ultimately, you should try to avoid feeding your cat human food. Instead, ask your vet what you can and cannot give to be on the safe side. Note that if your cat is on a special diet recommended by your veterinarian for weight loss or another medical problem, treats may be strongly discouraged. For specially formulated commercial cat treats, read the feeding guide on the package to learn how to feed them and how often. Homemade treats such as fresh meat or fish should be well cooked, with no added salt, and served with the bones and skin removed. Image Credit: mik ulyannikov, Shutterstock What’s a Better Alternative to Vienna Sausage?Īs a rule of thumb, a maximum of 10% of your cat’s daily calories should come from treats. However, on occasion, you may offer your pet healthier options than leftovers. So, by providing your cat with a balanced and complete diet, you shouldn’t need to supplement his diet with treats. The best way for your cat to get all these nutrients is through high-quality kibble, which greatly simplifies the choice of diet. Vitamins (vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamine, riboflavin, etc.).Minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, etc.).Thus, these are highly processed foods that should only be eaten occasionally. So keep a stock of Vienna sausage in your refrigerator to serve when you are short of time, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The sausage has a long shelf life, so you can add them for making a wide range of dishes or serve them as an appetizer. Like all cold cuts, Vienna sausages contain a lot of fat, sodium, sugar, additives, and preservatives. Vienna sausage makes a healthy appetizer or a ready-to-eat sausage snack. Vienna sausages, also known as wieners in Europe, are usually made from a mixture of pork, beef, or chicken, stuffed in a thin casing and sold in cans. Let’s take a closer look at these ingredients, why they shouldn’t be part of your cat’s diet, and what other options you can offer instead of Vienna sausages. In addition, these little calorie bombs contain an unappealing ingredient list for the health of our little felines. Indeed, sausages are not the best source of protein for cats, as they are mostly made from processed meat. So, what about Vienna sausages? While an occasional little bite won’t cause any problems for your kitty, we don’t recommend feeding Vienna sausages to your cat. The problem is that besides meat, Vienna sausages can also contain other ingredients, some of them not suitable for pets: Processed meat Meat is a suitable food for cats, but meat found in Vienna sausages is processed. And while human food is generally not an optimal option for our pet felines, some foods can be given as occasional treats. The first ingredient in Vienna sausages is meat, which should be absolutely fine for cats and other carnivores. But sometimes, their pleading little eyes and incessant meowing make us want to share our meal with them. Unlike most dogs, cats are not known to be greedy little gluttonous. Either way, it’s fun, and while there technically is a winner, it feels more like an “everyone wins” type of game, in the sense that scoring points is less the focus of the game, as opposed to thinking of good answers to the questions. The selected music video for "Düm Tek Tek" was set to premiere during the TRT news on March 15 however, the video release was postponed as it was said TRT was unable to decide it was later revealed that TRT decided to send the video which was shot for TRT's New Year's Eve show. The music video was edited in several ways, resulting in three different versions of the video being presented to TRT one of the three was later leaked on the internet. The version of the song featured in the music video differs to the original as it has a new, more lively beat. Snippets of the "Düm Tek Tek" video were shown during news broadcasts on VRT and Vtm, in Belgium, showing Hadise dancing within flame-like figures. In the song, "düm tek tek" are words symbolizing heartbeats:ĭuring the month of March, a music video for "Düm Tek Tek" was shot. It has been described as a "rhythmic pattern of Turkish music which is similar to vals in western music". "Düm tek tek" is a phrase formed by the Turkish music instrument darbuka, so it cannot readily be translated into other languages, though it has been said that "boom bang bang" is one English equivalent. The song itself is performed in English, with the hook being in Turkish. The song resembles the previous winning Turkish song " Everyway That I Can", in the sense that both are up-tempo songs with a "Turkish flavor" (though the lyrics suggest it is a love song). The lyrics of "Düm Tek Tek" were written by Hadise, Sinan Akçıl and Stefaan Fernande, while the music was composed by Akçıl. The song finished the contest placing 4th with 177 points overall. In reaction to her birth country Belgium not making it to the final, she said that she represented both countries (Turkey and Belgium) and that she always felt a sense of belonging to both. In a reaction to the first semi-final, Hadise said it is a miracle that she made it to the final as she was sick. She also visited Albania, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova. Then she started her Balkan tour in Komotini, Greece, followed by Skopje, Macedonia. Her second destination was the National Final of Greece in which their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, " This Is Our Night" by Sakis Rouvas, was chosen. She started off her promo tour in Malta, appearing on 5 popular television shows including the National Final of Malta in which their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, " What If We" by Chiara, was chosen. Hadise had prepared three songs as candidates for the contest, which she submitted to TRT for consideration. "Düm Tek Tek" was chosen by Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT). It also entered the Ultratop 50 ( Wallonia) at 27, marking Hadise's first appearance on any Walloon chart. It briefly became number one, defeating " Poker Face" by Lady Gaga. In Belgium, "Düm Tek Tek" entered the Ultratop 50 ( Flanders) at 36, where it stayed for a week before dropping out of the charts. It was performed 18th at the final of the contest on 16 May, following Germany's Alex Swings Oscar Sings! with " Miss Kiss Kiss Bang" and preceding Albania's Kejsi Tola with " Carry Me in Your Dreams" and finished 4th with 177 points.ĭüm Tek Tek was revealed during TRT's special New Year's Eve show in Turkey, which was broadcast both online through TRT International and on television. The song was performed 9th at the first semi-final of the contest on 12 May, following Switzerland's Lovebugs with " The Highest Heights" and preceding Israel's Noa and Mira Awad with " There Must Be Another Way" and finished 2nd with 172 points. " Düm Tek Tek" is a song by Belgian-Turkish singer Hadise that was performed as the Turkish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia. but if your system has significant differences at different values, then the color coding is necessary. If there's not, then you might as well go with grayscale. The most important factor is whether there are qualitative changes in your system or not. Rhyne answers the call and, regardless of the fast tempo, patiently builds a story free of clichés and counterfeit climaxes. Accompanied by deft, chubby organ chords, Buddy’s ultra-fast, probing lines slither like vipers in the grass, constantly moving forward. Luckily, as in Tin Tin Deo, Buddy Montgomery and Rhyne share swinging responsibilities. The upright bass is for modern jazz what the rug is for Jeffrey ‘The Dude’ Lebowski: it really ties the room together. But to my ears, it has a hard time bringing coherence to the overall jazz sound in comparison to the way the upright bass does. Fine modern jazz has been played with the use of the electric bass. Monk Montgomery’s electric bass playing (Monk Montgomery pioneered the use of Fender Precision bass in jazz as early as 1951 and featured it strongly with The Mastersounds) perfectly suit the blues tunes, but seriously barricades swing from the modern jazz cuts, in spite of Monk’s top-notch chops. The blues tracks are backbeat-heavy, funky. He’s very compatible with the tasteful Melvin Rhyne, who’s the king of understatement. Buddy Montgomery was an excellent, all-round vibraphonist. His notes ring shortly, matter-of-factly, more in the vein of Lionel Hampton than Bobby Hutcherson. It looks like Buddy is due at the Apollo Theatre for his Wednesday night juggling act.īuddy Montgomery utilised a focused linear approach, quicksilver, definite phrasing and notes that allure like drops of fountain water. I’m not sure what he’s holding in his right hand. Having said that, Buddy’s up front on the front cover of This Rather Than That. (Bobby Hutcherson’s Cruisin’ The Bird, Charlie Rouse’s Epistrophy, David “Fathead” Newman’s Blue Head) Perhaps a place in the background suited Buddy Montgomery best. An Indy cousin, so to speak.įollowing the death of Wes, Buddy Montgomery mainly concentrated on jazz education, although he kept on recording sporadically as a leader as well as a sideman with old pals in the late eighties and early nineties. Also on this album is another Indianapolis-born musician, organist Melvin Rhyne, who appeared on four acclaimed Wes Montgomery albums. Buddy was part of the tour that ended so tragically with the passing of Wes due to a heart attack shortly after on June 15, 1968, in their hometown of Indianapolis. ( Kismet, World Pacific 1958) From ‘55 to ‘61, the three brothers also starred as the Montgomery Brothers, but they played together well into the period when Wes had become a bonafide jazz star. Buddy and Monk were ‘buddies-in-crime’ in The Mastersounds from ‘57 to ‘61, a popular, accessible jazz group that also included Wes Montgomery on one album.
